About

Built with purpose.

Luukza is a privacy-first app suite for language learners, knowledge workers, and students — built by one person, with no investors, no ads, and no compromises on privacy.

The mission

The tools most people use to manage their knowledge — notes, vocabulary, journals — are either owned by large companies with ad-based business models or charge high prices for features that should be standard. Luukza exists to offer a genuine alternative: apps that are private by design, competitively priced, and don't treat your data as a product.

Every core feature in every Luukza app works offline, without an account. Sync, AI, and advanced features are available as paid upgrades — but the free experience is real, not a trial.

The person behind it

Luukza is built by a single developer based in Australia, with ties to Luxembourg, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. There is no team, no agency, no investors. This is a genuine indie software project, built on nights and weekends alongside a day job.

That independence is a feature, not a limitation. No pressure to grow at any cost, no investors demanding engagement metrics, no incentive to sell your data. Every decision is made by one person who uses the apps themselves.

The apps

The suite starts with Lexicon — a vocabulary and language builder for learners and conlang creators — and will grow to include Mind (personal knowledge management), Journal (encrypted private journaling), and Convert (local file conversion). Each app is useful alone and more powerful together.

All apps are built natively for iOS first, with macOS, iPadOS, and eventually Android to follow.

The stack

Luukza is built on a stack chosen for privacy, performance, and low cost at scale:

  • Swift / SwiftUIiOS and macOS native apps
  • SupabaseAuth, database, and row-level security
  • Cloudflare R2Binary file storage — zero egress fees
  • StripePro and Pro+ subscriptions via website
  • Claude APIAI features — definitions, summaries, extraction

Transparency

A public-facing roadmap is available at luukza.com/roadmap. The roadmap shows planned features, honest timelines, and the reasoning behind major decisions. Luukza is not a venture-backed company racing toward an exit — the goal is a sustainable, long-lived product used by people who genuinely value it.
